How to choose Vitamin C: tablets, effervescent or sachets
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is one of the best-known vitamins. It's used to support immunity, normal blood-vessel function and iron absorption.
What forms are available?
| Form | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Regular tablets | Everyday use, exact dosing, many units per pack |
| Effervescent tablets | Easy to take with water, pleasant taste, good for kids |
| Sachets | Quick use on the go, no water needed |
| Liposomal Vitamin C | Better absorption, higher price |
What's the recommended dose?
- General adult daily recommendation: 80–110 mg.
- For increased needs (cold, immune challenge): 500–1000 mg split into two doses.
- High doses are not recommended without consulting a pharmacist or doctor.
When is the best time to take it?
Vitamin C can be taken at any time of day, with or without a meal. It helps iron absorption — for that purpose, take them together with a meal.
Does Vitamin C help with a cold?
Vitamin C does not prevent colds, but it can shorten their duration and ease symptoms when taken early.
